Construction worker in Joliet injured after collapse of concrete wall at I-80

In a dramatic early morning incident, a construction worker was trapped under the debris of a collapsed concrete wall in Joliet. The mishap occurred at the intersection of I-80 and Richards Street, prompting a swift response from the East Joliet Fire Protection District.

Around 1:30 a.m., emergency personnel rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the construction worker’s predicament. The 28-year-old worker was reportedly pinned under the rubble, requiring the immediate assistance of his colleagues who were on-site.

Rescue efforts proved successful as the worker was extricated from the debris, and his condition listed as fair. Subsequently, according to statements from the fire protection district, he was transported to Silver Cross Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
